On 1 July 2026 Stefano Puricelli joined the AURIGA team as a contracted researcher, bringing to the project a specialisation in Life Cycle Assessment.
Stefano is a postdoctoral researcher with extensive experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). He holds a master’s degree in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering and a European joint doctorate in Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, both obtained at Politecnico di Milano.
He has experience applying the LCA methodology to passenger cars, alternative fuels and waste management. He is a teaching assistant for the M.Sc. courses “Air pollution and control engineering” and “Recycling and e-waste” (Erasmus+ INHABITAT), and a tutor for the M.Sc. course “Air pollution”.
In the AURIGA project, Stefano will focus his research on evaluating the impact of the technology developed within the project, as well as comparing it with conventional technologies for CO2 capture. His contribution completes the picture drawn by the scaling-up work package: where the techno-economic sub-model compares the ionic-liquid absorber against conventional amine solvents in cost and energy terms, the life-cycle analysis asks the complementary question — what is the environmental burden of the whole chain, from solvent production through reactor operation and regeneration to end of life, and under which conditions does the technology actually pay off against the alternatives it aims to replace.
