Francesco Pierini was born in Napoli on 23 September 1996. After graduating from the Liceo Scientifico “Leon Battista Alberti” in 2015, he started his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Naples “Federico II”, completing his studies in the 2019–2020 academic year. His Bachelor’s thesis was an experimental lab-scale investigation of the phosphorylation reaction of two polysaccharidic substrates.
He then moved to Bologna to continue his academic career at the Alma Mater Studiorum, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry in A.A. 2023–2024, defending a thesis centered on an experimental investigation of the flow field of highly viscous fluids by means of Stereo-PIV.
Since November 2025, he has been part of the AURIGA research team at Politecnico di Milano, supervised by Professor Giorgio Besagni. His activity focuses on an experimental and numerical investigation of the fluid dynamics of the CO₂ absorption process with ionic liquids (ILs) in a large-scale bubble column reactor.
