AURIGA — Unveiling the riddles of gas–liquid fluid dynamics: towards novel carbon dioxide absorption systems: current status and perspectives

G. Besagni

55th European Two-Phase Flow Group Meeting, 11 May 2026. Politecnico di Milano, Department of Energy, and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden–Rossendorf, Institute of Fluid Dynamics.

The project’s first full presentation of itself to the European two-phase flow community: the case for an analytical formulation of the bubble column operating curve that links local and global flow properties rigorously enough to predict the flow regime a priori, and the state of the first year — the analysis of the transition out of the poly-dispersed homogeneous regime, the property-based methodology that selected [BMIM][BF₄] and [EMIM][OAc], and the first bubble-scale measurements of shape, terminal velocity and liquid-side mass transfer in the two aqueous mixtures.
