CHISA 2026: three talks and a best poster award

Three AURIGA doctoral students — Alberto Arici, Vitor Regert and Djamel Eddine Aissaoui — presented their work at CHISA 2026, the 28th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering, held in Prague from 23 to 28 August 2026. Djamel Eddine Aissaoui’s contribution to the congress poster competition won the best poster award.

Best poster award

Entered in the congress poster competition, Influence of bubble release mechanism on the rise velocity and deformation of single bubbles in aqueous ionic liquid solutions was awarded the best poster prize. The work is by Djamel Eddine Aissaoui, Andrea Ferrario, Nicolò Varallo, Hendrik Hessenkemper and Giorgio Besagni, and continues the single-bubble line of the bubble-scale work package in collaboration with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.

Three talks

Alberto Arici opened the group’s contributions in the CO2 capture session with A methodology for the selection of ionic liquids for CO2 absorption based on thermodynamic and kinetic properties, with Giorgio Besagni — the solvent-screening step that feeds the design of the AURIGA absorber.

Vitor Regert followed in the same session with Numerical investigation of bubble columns with ionic liquids for CO2 absorption, with Nicolò Varallo and Giorgio Besagni.

Djamel Eddine Aissaoui presented in the fluid and granular flows session with Experimental investigation of flow regime transitions in a rectangular bubble column using bed expansion and MRI-based gas holdup measurements, with Andrea Ferrario, Nicolò Varallo, Hendrik S. Rennebaum, Alexander Penn and Giorgio Besagni — work carried out with the Hamburg University of Technology.
