Vitor Regert is a PhD Candidate in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology at Politecnico di Milano. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Brazil, 2022) and completed his Master’s degree in Energy Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2025, focusing on the numerical investigation of mass transfer phenomena in bubble columns with ionic liquids for CO₂ absorption.
During his academic path, he gained international research experience at the Heinrich Blasius Institut, Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg (Germany, 2019–2020), within the UAS7 program, contributing to the development of an experimental setup for Quartz Enhanced Photo-acoustic Spectroscopy (QEPAS). He also gained industrial experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at General Motors (Brazil, 2021), where he managed the implementation of an Intelligent Proximity Alert System (IPAS), recognized as the Best Intern Project of 2021 across the entire plant.
Since September 2025, he has been pursuing his PhD at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano, also serving as teaching assistant for the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) course for master’s students. Within the AURIGA project, his research focuses on developing a mechanistic theoretical model to predict flow regime transitions in bubble columns, and from those determine the global and local flow properties. The model will be validated against experimental and numerical data, producing a multi-scale predictive tool for the design and scale-up of bubble column reactors, with direct relevance to CO₂ capture processes.
