{"id":265,"date":"2026-06-20T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.auriga.polimi.it\/?p=265"},"modified":"2026-09-10T13:16:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T13:16:09","slug":"bubble-scale-facilities-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.auriga.polimi.it\/index.php\/bubble-scale-facilities-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"The small-scale facilities are complete"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-lede wp-block-paragraph\">The small-scale experimental facilities of the project have been designed, built and commissioned \u2014 closing tasks C.1 and C.2 and opening the measurement campaigns of the bubble-scale work package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bubble-scale rig is a rectangular-section bubble column operated at ambient conditions, with liquid recirculation to renew the liquid depleted by CO\u2082 absorption. Its purpose is to isolate the elementary mechanisms that the large-diameter column can only see in aggregate: how a single bubble rises and deforms, how two bubbles coalesce, and how much CO\u2082 crosses the interface while they do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three measurement configurations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Individual bubbles of a controlled size, for the study of rise velocity, trajectory and shape. <strong>Adjacent capillaries<\/strong> bring two bubbles into contact on a repeatable path, which is what makes a coalescence <em>rate<\/em> measurable rather than merely observable.
