Work carried out with the Hamburg University of Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"pub-abstract wp-block-paragraph\">Two independent routes to the gas holdup in a rectangular bubble column \u2014 bed expansion and magnetic resonance imaging \u2014 are used together to locate the flow regime transitions.
